Individuals who are going to college soon or are already in college should consider getting the necessary education to become a computer engineer. It has been projected that the field of computer engineering will increase more than thirty percent over the next ten years, as the need for more highly-skilled people in the computer engineering field will continue to grow. What does this mean for people who don’t really know what they want to do for a career? It means they should consider becoming a computer engineer, for a few years. The first reason is that there will be plenty of jobs by the time you get your degree, and the second reason is that comuter engineering salary is quite good.

Computer engineers think of and create new software. They use the ideas and knowledge foundations of computer science and mathematical studies to make, examine, and evaluate the software and systems that allow computers to function. The job descriptions of these workers change often, reflecting evolving ideas in technology and new points of focus, in addition to the evolving practices of employers. Computer engineers think of and create many categories of software, some of which are computer games, financial software, systems of operation, middleware and network systems. They have to truly understand the theories of computing systems, the function of software systems, and the essence and boundaries of hardware to be positive that all of their systems will work properly.

Computer engineers begin by critically thinking about users’ needs, and then create, examine and release software to meet the needs of the user. While this process happens, they make diagrams, flowcharts and more documentation, and they can also make the deeper sets of rules, known as algorithms, which literally inform the computer what it should do. They sometimes might have to code the instructions into language, but that is a job which is normally done by computer programmers.

Most computer engineers start working directly after earning a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or mathematics. For entry-level positions, the comuter engineering salary is very good. New computer engineers, fresh out of college, can expect to earn at least $55,000 per year. Depending on the cost of living in the area where they begin working, they could easily start out making $65,000 per year. Putting this together, the average starting salary in the computer engineering field is roughly $60,000 per year. The idea behind this comuter engineering salary is that there are very few people who are qualified to do the work, so they have to be paid well to attract people to the field.

After about ten years of experience as a computer engineer, the comuter engineer salary goes up quite a bit. It is quite possible that most computer engineers are making around $90,000 per year after ten years on the job. The reason for a nice increase in salary is because they have likely learned a lot more skills since they first broke into the field out of college. For talented computer engineers who stay informed with the recent technology, potential for promotion is good. Promotion prospects for computer engineers go up with experience. Sooner or later, they may receive a position as a research manager, information system manager, or chief information officer, particularly if they have training and skills in business-related fields. Many computer engineers with multiple years of experience and knowledge can discover well-paying opportunities working with people who design systems or independent consultants, especially in fields such as business-to-business data security and transaction and data assurance. Learning all of these things can help the comuter engineering salary to increase.

After twenty years of experience, the comuter engineering salary will likely exceed $100,000 per year. More and more skills have been learned over the years, and this computer engineer, with all of this experience, is at the top of their profession. The best workers get the best comuter engineering salary.

Computer engineering is a growing field with great job prospects and opportunities for advancement. There’s no telling how many jobs will open up, but there will more than likely be a job waiting for anyone who decides to get the necessary training to become a computer engineer.

In 2011, the University of Washington School of Engineering and Computer Sciences has reported that many of its graduating seniors, with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, have been offered starting salaries of $105,000, along with $30,000 sign-on bonuses. Similar salary offerings have been reported by Stanford, University of California at Berkeley, Harvard and Massachusetss Institute of Technology, students graduating with degrees in computer science.

Compared to starting salaries of graduates with a bachelor degree in liberal arts, ranging from $24,000 to $28,000, a degree in computer science, with highly developed skills in math, science, engineering and the computer, with all the complexities of programming, artifical intelligence, systems development, coordination and managment, software design and algorithmic programming, makes a big difference in life after college graduation.

Echoing the postive sentiments of the University of Washington, the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Statistics has reported that job opportunities for graduates with a degree in computer system design will increase 48.75% during the 2008-2018 decade. According to the labor bureau, the fastest growing and highest paying jobs will be in computer and information systems management, computer scientist, computer support specialist, computer system analyst, computer system design, data base administration, network administration, network sustems analyst and software engineer.

And, according to recent statements issued by Intel, Microsoft, I.B.M., Oracle, Dell and many other major corporations, these are jobs that will stay in America and will not be “off-shored” to countries such as India or China.
Current median 2011 salaries for some off these positions with bachelor degrees in computer scienced, as reported in the Pay Scale College report, are: software developer, $80,000, software test engineer,$84,000, senior software engineer, $98,000, software development manager, $115,000, software architect, $118,000, system developer, $93,800, software developer $82,000 and data base administrator, $85,660. And, these are only a few.
Graduates with great skills in math science and engineering and degrees in computer science are in great demand, while the supply of students is very limited.
